BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The three Staten Island teams in the PSAL 2A basball playoffs -- McKee/Staten Island Tech, Petrides and Port Richmond -- all recorded first-round wins Friday, but the No. 28-seeded Raiders pulled off a major upset in edging No. 5 Brookln Prospect, 2-1, in eight innings.

Jason Eberle singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth to give PR the lead.

Alex DePietro worked eight innings for the win, allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Jayden Romano and Alex Savapoulas had two hits each to lead the Raider offense.

The Raiders will face No. 12 New Utrecht in the second round in Brooklyn on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Trailing 2-0, the No. 2-seeded Seagulls scored once in the fifth and four in the sixth to pull out the win.

Nick Kumbatovic drove in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Matt Mavricos picked up his 10th win of the season, striking out 10.

Vincent Mattaliano come in the seventh for the save.

MSIT will face No. 18 A-Tech HS field Tuesday at 4 p.m.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The No. 11 Panthers scored early and often and then put up a five-spot in the home fifth to mercy the No. 22 seed at home.

Petrides will visit No. 6 Lehman on Tuesday in the second round of the playoffs.

Winning pitcher Lorenzo Lamattina hurled four innings of one-hit ball and struck out 11.

Matt Scarfone went 2 for 3, including a homer and Giovanni Molinare was 2 for 4 with a triple.

Scarfone also pitched the fifth and struck out the side.
