Steamboat Resort is nearly ready for the ski season, and this year, it will be debuting a brand-new food option for those looking for a warm snack on the slopes.
Called "The Pizza Ranger," the snowcat-turned-food truck will make its debut on the slopes this winter, once the ski resort opens on December 1—originally, the resort had planned to open on November 21. The all-terrain utility vehicle is equipped with both a warming oven and a pizza oven.
"The Pizza Ranger is kind of a utility vehicle, smaller (than the Taco Beast), but it has a little warming box on the front and in the back there is a little pizza oven," said Steamboat spokeswoman Maren Franciosi. "They both have snow tracks for easily navigating around the mountain."
You'll be able to find the Pizza Ranger around the Bashor Pavilion, near one of the resort’s terrain parks. This new portable dining option joins the highly successful Taco Beast, which Steamboat introduced a couple of years ago.
Steamboat usually has the Taco Beast located in the Sunshine Bowl area, and both portable food vehicles are expected to be quite successful this year. The mobile food truck idea was already a concept the resort planned to use prior to the pandemic, and it felt like the right time to launch the new vehicle.
