BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Mike Barger was shocked when he saw his latest Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. bill.

The Ruxton resident had already been dismayed at the cost of power and electricity, but the situation got worse.

“I thought the one bill I paid that was $140 more than last year was bad,” Barger said. “Then, I looked at my projected bill, and that was $452 more than last year. Crazy.”

For the average combined residential gas and electric customer, the state-approved price increases began Jan. 1 at an average of $7.77 per month, the company reported. By June, that’ll grow to $26.06, a 12% increase for the average bill.
