Grab a scoop at their grand opening on March 12!
Baltimore ice cream shop The Charmery is debuting its long-awaited Columbia location this Friday. The creamery's fifth store will be located in the Merriweather District below the Juniper Apartment complex. It was initially slated to open last summer but had to be postponed due to Covid-19 and last-minute changes to the shop's design.
A grand opening is planned for March 12 at 5 p.m., with a portion of proceeds benefitting the charity HopeWorks.
Like all locations, the shop will offer seven "Always" flavors and a handful of seasonal and dairy-free options. Popular picks like Old Bay Caramel and Maryland Mud will be on the menu, but customers can experience new flavors inspired by the local scenery. Baltimore Biz Journal reports a Lake Kittamaqundi-inspired flavor will be featured called "Lake Kittamacookie" combining chocolate cake, malt, and the Baltimore favorite Otterbein's Cookies. Other treats include shakes, sundaes, and ice cream "sandos."

But what makes this store different from the rest is its design. For one, there's no indoor seating. The shop will consist of a walk-up window where customers can place their orders and take their treats to-go. Considering its proximity to Color Burst Park and the rest of Merriweather Post Pavilion, this makes it an ideal place for a grab-and-go model.
The Charmery was conceived by David and Laura Alima. Over a decade ago, the couple opened their first shop in the Hampden neighborhood, followed by shops in Federal Hill, Towson, and the Union Collective facility. In addition to physical locations, they offer a delivery service with drop-offs in Howard County and Baltimore City.
The new shop is located at 6000 Merriweather Drive, Suite 185B in Columbia, Maryland. For residents craving a sweet treat, this is sure to be a charming addition to the city's restaurant scene as we enter spring. You can get the full scoop here.
