Folger Consort in D.C. is hosting their own version of Oktoberfest: five performances of old German music.

If you're looking to take a break from all the costumes, hay bales, and pumpkins this October, look no further. American tenor Mark Bleeke, alongside the Folger Consort's very own lute, strings, and wind ensemble, will take audiences through select pieces from 14th-, 15th-, and 16th-century Germany in a special Oktoberfest: Early Music of Germany event.

The shows will take place October 12-14, with an 8 p.m. show Friday and Saturday, a 4 p.m. performance on Saturday, and matinee performances at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets to the concerts are $42.

Patrons will be in good hands as they listen to Bleeke's skilled tenor. He has sung with high-profile musical groups such as the National Symphony and the BBC Symphony Orchestra with a repertoire ranging from The Magic Flute to The Seven Deadly Sins. 

The Folger Consort is the Folger Shakespeare Library's resident ensemble, specializing in early music -- from performances to seminars and more.

So come on out and listen! It's bound to be an evening of highbrow entertainment that will both enrich and enthrall. Folger Consort's Oktoberfest will be an impressive date night or a fun evening with friends. If anything, it's a much-needed break from all those corn mazes!
