Are you ready for a movie marathon? Why not make it Arizona-themed?

There are many movies filmed in Arizona , including old classics to contemporary movies that run the genre gamut .

The Arizona Department of Transportation shared this list of movies filmed along state highways and freeways, including the infamous running scenes from "Forrest Gump" and an epic Autobots fight scene from "Transformers: The Last Knight."

So, dish up some popcorn , grab the remote and get ready for a movie night. Here are the flicks filmed on Arizona highways and which scenes to watch closely for glimpses of the Grand Canyon State.

'Forrest Gump'



Several of the famous running scenes from this 1994 movie were filmed on Interstate 40 in northern Arizona.

'The Kingdom'



Government agents are sent to the Middle East to investigate after a U.S. facility was bombed in this 2007 film. While much of it was filmed in the Middle East, some scenes were filmed in Arizona.

'The Karate Kid'



While "The Karate Kid" was predominantly filmed in California, there are a few notable Arizona landmarks to be spotted as Daniel LaRusso drives from New Jersey to the West Coast.

'Raising Arizona'



This 1987 movie has Arizona in its name, so you know it's going to be good. Plus, it made The Arizona Republic movie critic Bill Goodykoontz's list of the five best movies filmed in Arizona.

'Transformers: The Last Knight'



This 2017 movie starring Mark Wahlberg was partially filmed in Arizona, including an epic chase scene. Filming even shut down Loop 303, causing drivers to have to take detours to accommodate the moviemakers.

'Fools Rush In'



This 1997 rom-com was filmed in the Southwest. The movie tells the story of a couple, played by Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek, who find themselves having a child together after a one-night stand. They end up going to Las Vegas to get married, and notable Arizona landmarks are visible.

'Psycho'



This 1960 movie included sweeping panoramic shots of the Grand Canyon State and downtown Phoenix, showing what the city looked like once upon a time .

'National Lampoon's Vacation'



This 1983 movie, starring Chevy Chase, tells the tale of a family trip to an amusement park that goes terribly wrong.

'Little Miss Sunshine'



This 2006 movie depicts a New Mexico family's efforts to take a young Abigail Breslin to a beauty pageant in California.

'Easy Rider'



As the bikers in this movie drive from Los Angeles to Louisiana, they drive through the desert, including parts of Arizona.

'Hard Miles'



In this 2023 movie based on a true story, a social worker takes a team of teenage convicts on a 1,000-mile bike ride, which takes them through Arizona.

'Grapes of Wrath'



This classic movie has several scenes filmed in Arizona, showing the Joad family's trip from Oklahoma to California. However, you may not recognize the Arizona scenes and locations as they look much different than they did in this 1940 movie.
