The Oregon Cascades and the Oregon coast are two of the most desirable places to spend Thanksgiving break, according to a new analysis of travel trends .

HomeToGo , which describes itself as “the marketplace with the world’s largest selection of vacation rentals,” released a list of the top 15 U.S. destinations for Thanksgiving vacations and two Oregon cities ranked in the top five.

Sunriver was the No. 2 destination on the list, and Lincoln City came in at No. 5.

Sunriver offers access to the nearby Mt. Bachelor ski area and a wide variety of vacation rentals. Sunriver Resort has a large holiday light display , starting Saturday, Nov. 23.

With La Niña expected to bring colder and wetter weather to the region this winter, it’s not surprising that Oregon’s ski resorts are a trending travel destination.

Mt. Bachelor Ski Area had seen more than 40 inches of snow in early November and opened on Nov. 16 – its “earliest opening since 1998,” according to a press release.

Lincoln City is a particularly popular fall and winter destination on the Oregon coast, in part thanks to Finders Keepers, the annual treasure hunt for glass floats on the city’s beaches.

HomeToGo analyzed search trends for destinations on its vacation rental website to compile the ranking, looking at search interest in both states overall and specific destinations in each state.

Oregon was one of three states that “climbed to the top of the trending list with the largest year-on-year increases in interest among vacationers,” Eleanor Moody, a HomeToGo spokesperson, said in a news release.
