Glenwood Springs has several waste-related initiatives this summer.

Glenwood’s Public Information Officer Bryana Starbuck spoke with KDNK about two that are ongoing during the warmer months.

"The city offers a brush and yard waste drop off, and that will be every other Saturday from 8 to noon through September. And so folks can get those full dates online. That event is for folks to just bring in all the things that come from our yards while we're doing spring and summer yard a maintenance, so guard clippings, weeds, and small branches, things like that.

So residents can gather those up and drop them off at the old rodeo fairgrounds, which is down there by the airport. At that event, we do also ask that folks bring proof of residency if limits bring. So again, either that driver's license or state issued ID to participate in the program. It is only open for city residents and is not available for commercial use or for folks outside of the city limits.

The city is offering landfill vouchers to residents, which are subsidized vouchers for one personal size pickup load truck of non hazardous materials at the South Canyon Landfill. Those are also available only to city residents and are available upon request. That voucher is for bulky furniture, metal, wood, leaves, yard waste type things.

Folks can start requesting vouchers now, and they can do that online at cogs. us slash voucher. And so you'll request your voucher, we'll check eligibility, and then once that is confirmed, then we'll mail out that voucher to you. And those are valid through July 31st. And with that too, we would encourage you to check out the list of what is accepted and what is not, just to make sure that you know what you're expecting when you do your load for the landfill.

And then when you arrive for your one pickup truck load, make sure you have your ID again to validate your address because the vouchers are for the resident living at the address that it was sent to you'll bring your ID, you'll present to your voucher, and then you'll be able to get that one free pickup truck load."
