TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – Advisors Excel is sharing its vision of the future for West Ridge Mall this week, including ideas for new shops and national outlets it hopes to bring in.

27 News reached out to Tracey Stratton with Advisors Excel this week to find out what new businesses or retail outlets the company hopes to attract to the mall as it undergoes some significant changes over the next few years. Advisors Excel, which purchased the mall in 2023 , recently shared that it will be partnering with some other companies to breathe new life into the mall .

Stratton said that after consulting with the developer, she can share that Advisors Excel currently has a long list of possible new tenants and retailers it is hoping to bring in. She emphasized that none of these businesses have officially signed on with the mall yet but may appear in the mall in the coming years.

“We are currently trying to determine the right mix of tenants and what retailers are growing and thriving,” Stratton said. “We also think it’s important to focus on who really fits the Topeka market.”

Stratton said Advisors Excel is just starting the process of reaching out to these different companies and has made no commitments at this time. Advisors Excel will work to figure out which of these options work best for the mall’s future in the coming days.

“It’s likely going to be a lengthy process,” Stratton said.

Advisor’s Excel unveiled grand plans on Friday, Jan. 24 to reshape the look of the mall with the help of Dallas-based real estate development firm Russell Glen and two architectural firms: RDCollaborative and Hufft . These planned changes, which are tentatively set to come in early 2027, will see the mall’s exterior transformed to a more modern design.

Advisor’s Excel will eventually move more than 1,000 of its employees into the mall in new office spaces while also keeping other parts of the mall dedicated to retail, restaurants and other shops as part of these changes. The JCPenney location, which is set to exit the mall this year , will be part of this process, having its space converted into offices, retail and restaurants.
