WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls Area Crime Stoppers released a public announcement alerting the public to a phone scam.

Crime Stoppers said a scam caller has been calling claiming to be “Officer Johnson with the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office”.

They said the scam caller has been telling people they missed jury duty or have a warrant for arrest, and that they need money sent to them to avoid arrest.

The Wichita Falls Area Crime Stoppers said no law enforcement office will ask you to send money over the phone.
