BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - The YMCA has been a staple of many communities across the nation and especially here in North Central West Virginia. Aside from what they offer from a physical fitness standpoint, YMCA’s offer a place where the community can come together to not only bond, but also grow. Community events provide the perfect opportunity to do just that, and the YMCA of North Central West Virginia is set to host one of their biggest events of the year. Vegas Night will feature an evening of gaming, delicious food and drinks, and live entertainment. According to North Central West Virginia YMCA CEO, Rick Johnson; the event offers the opportunity to not only have a fun filled night with fellow community members but also offer something different. " We wanted to have a fun environment where we could have local business owners, members of the community; a way to have a fun night of fellowship and good times with each other. We just thought we’d do something different. So, we’re giving people a good night to get out, enjoy themselves , and just celebrate community." What makes this event so unique is you don’t have to travel all the way to sin city or worry about losing money in order to try your luck at some casino styled fun. " You don’t win money or anything, basically you get to play the table games and not feel bad about what you’re going to lose that night because you don’t lose anything. You’re going to get some stuff; you’re going to play for fun, and it’s really a cool atmosphere. You full fledge feel like you’re in a Casino, it’s pretty nice. We’ll have Poker tables, there will be Roulette, Craps, so you get the full fledge feel of that. Then we partnered up with the Bridgeport Conference Center, which I’m really excited about. We’ll have a really good menu that night. They have a top-notch Chef in Tim Corby, and he’s put together a really good menu for the night for the people." This is just one of many event the YMCA has on the horizon, but all are in an effort to have the same effect. Bring the North Central West Virginia community closer together and let them know the YMCA is here to serve them. " Well, don’t get me wrong, obviously our main importance is letting the community know that we’re here but, on the other hand. We have a lot of kids in the community and adults in the community that can’t afford to use the facilities. So, with these things that we’re doing, these events like Vegas Night; this allows us to reach out to help the kids and adults that may need a gym or a place to go and we’re giving them the opportunity to do that. Taking the financial side out for them, so they can just worry about being healthy and working to be a healthier person."
