Fleet Week 2022 will include flyovers from military and civilian planes over the Inner Harbor.

The Labor Day holiday may be over, but more fun is on tap at Fleet Week in Baltimore this week. The biennial event highlights the history of the maritime industry in the state and gives the public a chance to see America’s majestic ships in person.

The free event is presented by Northrop Grumman and Historic Ships in Baltimore and will take place at the Inner Harbor, Upper Locust Point, Fells Point, and Martin State Airport from September 7–13.

Visitors can tour the United States, British, and Canadian naval ships, U.S. Coast Guard ships, NOAA, and Army Corps of Engineers vessels long with historic sailing and tall ships. The Fleet Week Festival will take place on the weekend of September 9 and will include food, drink, a Ferris wheel, live entertainment, and musical performances by military bands. Key events taking place include a crab soup cookoff, Fleet Week Night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Kids on the Bay Parade, and meet and greets with crew members of ships docked in the harbor.

For the first time ever, Fleet Week is hosting a series of flyovers from military jets and planes including powerful F-18s and A-10s from Friday through Sunday in the Inner Harbor. Out at Martin State Airport in Middle River, visitors can view military planes up close and hear performances by the United States Navy Band Cruisers.

With such a fantastic schedule of events, it can be difficult to decide on what to do and where to go. To help out, the organizers of Fleet Week have created an app that you can download at MDfleetweek.org. You’ll find maps, event details, and schedules for the free shuttles running between the Inner Harbor and Port Covington.
