To improve the experience at the festival this season, organizers have reduced daily ticket sales by 20%.

The weather has started to cool a bit making it the perfect time to experience the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Each year, 27 acres are transformed into a medieval village with 10 stages, a jousting arena, and a craft fair.

Visitors can see classic Shakespearean acts, eat giant Turkey legs, and buy goods from some of the most talented Renaissance artisans in the country.

The festival runs each weekend through October 23.

Celebrating its 62nd season, the Maryland Renaissance Fair is set during the reign of England’s King Henry VIII. The king and his court are just a few of the cast of characters that roam the festival bringing medieval England to Maryland. Some of the troupes featured at the festival include Shakespeare’s Skum, Topsy Turvy, Markita’s One Woman Stunt Show, Hilby, Hey Nannie Nunnie’s song and patter delight, and Puke and Snot.

The entertainment lineup also includes jugglers, knife throwers, comedy sword fighting, and jousting. Throughout the fair, guests will come upon stilt walkers, beggars, pickpockets, and other street performers.

Quench your thirst with ales, ciders, and wines, and enjoy typical faire food like giant smoked turkey legs, scotch eggs, meat on a stick, and Shepard's pie. Visitors can also enjoy traditional favorites like hot pretzels, ribs, crab cake sandwiches, and funnel cakes. The village also has more than 140 artisans selling wares like jewelry, pottery, blown glass, and wood crafts.

The Maryland Renaissance Fair will also be holding theme weekends in September, including a Celtic Celebration on September 10–11; Pirate Adventure Weekend, September 17–18; Myth and Magic Weekend, September 24–25.

Tickets are $30 for adults, $26 for seniors, and $15 for children aged 7 to 15. Children under 7 are admitted for free and discounted group tickets may be available. A full schedule of entertainment is available on the website along with a list of artisans and food vendors.

The Maryland Renaissance Fair is located at 1821 Crownsville Rd., Annapolis.
