The feature is now available!

Disney+ has announced the launch of a new co-viewing feature that allows viewers to watch their favorite Disney content together.

Disney+ announced the rollout of the new "GroupWatch" feature earlier today for U.S. subscribers. Host a private-viewing party and watch titles with up to six of your friends—everyone must be a Disney+ subscriber to participate.

"Storytelling comes alive when you're able to share and enjoy it with others, and at this moment when many are still apart from their friends and family, GroupWatch offers a way to safely connect virtually by co-viewing your favorite Disney+ stories with your favorite people from the comfort of your living room," said Jerrell B Jimerson, SVP Product Management for Disney+ in a press release

Invitations must be sent from the web or mobile device; however, participants can also access the feature on a connected television or Smart TV, as well as android and IOS devices.

To start a session, open the Disney+ app, pick a title, and then tap the GroupWatch Icon (it looks like three people). Once everyone has joined the party, the show can begin. Swipe left during the movie or show to access the emojis; as of yet, there's not a live chat option on the GroupWatch feature.

This feature is similar to several other group watch options that are rising in popularity among streaming services these days. As more and more people want to connect with others, these are becoming a welcome way to spend some time binge-watching while social distancing.
