It may be a new year, but it's back to work and regular life in the Mile High, which, in our opinion, is pretty awesome. There's a lot to do this week to keep the calendar full as we move into 2020; comedy shows, free days at local museums, and more.

Free Day at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

The first Free Day at the Museum is today, courtesy of the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District. A great way to start out 2020 and a perfect and affordable outing for those kids who have a day or two left on winter break.

Thick Skin at Comedy Works Denver

When: January 6, 8 p.m.
Where: Comedy Works Denver
Price: $14; 21-and-over show

Brutal honesty and a quick wit make Mike Stanley a popular standup comedian across the country and world. His anecdotes about life, and everything that comes with it, will set your week and year off to a hilarious start.

Free First Tuesday Night at the Children's Museum of Denver

When: January 7, 4–8 p.m.
Where: Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus

The whole family plays for free tonight and every first Tuesday of the month. All ages are welcome, and everyone will find something fun to play with.

The Main Event Launches 'Kids Eat Free' Every Tuesday

The new “Kids Eat Free” every Tuesday night kicks off today. Kids 12 and under eat free at all locations, and families can stay and enjoy the arcade, laser tag, and bowling.

Last Day to See Mission Aerospace Exhibit

When: January 8, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where: Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum
Price: $16.95 Adults (17+); $12.95 64+; $9.95 Kids (4-16); Free 3 and under

Make. Fly. Launch. Aspire. This interactive exhibit is set up like a maze and takes visitors on a journey to learn the history of flight, navigation, and NASA’s vision for the future. Visitors can experiment with thrust, lift, control surfaces, and gyroscopes. Make a paper airplane or rocket and test for distance and air dexterity.

Still: Elemental

When: January 8, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where: Clyfford Still Museum
Price: $10 Adults; Free 17 and under

Still: Elemental looks at the artist's work "in relation to the perennial elements of Greek philosophy: earth, water, air, fire, and æther. Similar to the mystifying power of natural phenomena, Clyfford Still’s often large-scale, colorful abstract work is intended to be transcendent, experiential, and to impact viewers on an intrinsic, emotional level."

National Western Stock Show Kickoff Parade

Downtown Denver turns into a true western cattle drive today as the streets fill with hats, boots, and longhorn cattle. Marching bands, floats, horses, cowboys, and cowgirls all come out for this yearly event that starts the National Western Stock Show. Check out our full guide right here.

Sportsmen's Expo

When: January 9, 12–8 p.m.
Where: Colorado Convention Center
Price: $16 Adult; Free 15 and under & active military with I.D.

Hosted by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, this yearly event brings together all sorts of outdoor enthusiasts, experts, and over 500 companies for this four-day event. The Youth Fair will have an off-road RC track, live raptors, a catch and release fishing pond, and more.

Nutrition Lecture Series - After the Holidays

When: January 9, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
Where: South Denver Cardiology
Price: Free

We all enjoyed an extra cookie, or 10, over the last few weeks, and for those looking for a little motivation and guidance on getting back on track to healthy eating, this event is for you. Susan Buckley, RD, CLT, will share her expertise on heart-healthy cooking and nutrition, as well as explore new research on weight loss.
