Big Bird and company plan to put on quite the show!

The iconic children's show that has spanned multiple generations is making its way to Denver. Fan-favorite characters like Big Bird and Elmo will be hitting the streets to film a special segment for the show. In honor of its 50th anniversary, the non-profit company Sesame Workshop will be taking a road trip!

The trip will span 10 cities across the United States, including:

New York, NY: June 1
Washington, DC: June 8
Pittsburgh, PA: June 15
Detroit, MI: June 22
Chicago, IL: June 29
Dallas, TX: July 6
Kansas City, MO: July 13
Denver, CO: July 20
Seattle, WA: July 27
Los Angeles, CA: August 3

The production crew for the show will travel along to each city to film segments on what local children love about their communities. These segments will be featured in the show's upcoming 50th season, which will premiere on HBO in November. In each town, iconic characters like Big Bird and Elmo will be visiting local landmarks, so keep your eyes peeled for them!

Festivities will last for three days in each city. Free Sesame Street festivals will take place where families can enjoy live performances and a plethora of kid-friendly activities, including a giant maze, a cookies-and-milk snack station, and photo ops.

Sesame Workshop's President of Media and Education and Chief Operating Officer had this to say about the event:

“This summer’s road trip will demonstrate the power of media to engage and teach – something Sesame Workshop has focused on from the very beginning. As we celebrate our decades of impact and look ahead to the next 50 years, Sesame Street’s timeless lessons remain the same: Everyone, no matter who they are or where they are from, is equally deserving of respect, opportunity, and joy.”

The event in Denver will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton. It will feature a free festival and stage show.
