The 2024 awards season is in full swing! And it's that time of year again when the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) reveals the nominations for its annual awards, so whether you're a sucker for a heart-wrenching drama or a lover of laugh-out-loud comedies, this year's list of nominees is stacked. Huge films like Barbie and Oppenheimer and television's Succession and The Last of Us all have multiple nominations—both Barbie and Oppenheimer won big at the 2024 Golden Globes.
In addition, Barbra Streisand will receive the 2024 SAG Life Achievement Award at this year's awards ceremony.
The 2024 SAG Awards will stream live on Netflix on February 24.
The SAG Awards is a big (and key) event leading up to the Oscar nominations, which will be announced on January 23. The Screen Actors Guild shares a lot of crossover with the Academy's largest voting branch that determines nominees for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Picture. So it's fairly predictable, to an extent, to see who's on the Oscar track and who's not.
For example, in last year's SAG Awards, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ke Huy Quan, Michelle Yeoh, and Brendan Fraser all won the SAG Award and the Oscar for their respective categories; Everything Everywhere All at Once also won the SAG Ensemble award before winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
