The locavore movement is showing no signs of slowing down.

Okay, folks, let's begin by breaking this down:

Carnivore: Eater of meat.

Herbivore: Eater of plants.

Omnivore: Eater of meat and plants.

Locavore: Eater of all locally-sourced foods.

If you're looking to put your money into supporting all things Colorado, especially within agriculture, you ought to consider adopting the locavore lifestyle. The beautiful part of being a locavore is that you can uphold a carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore diet while also supporting local growers and vendors.

The Lexicon, a non-profit that seeks to educate the public about buying local goods and sustainable living, created a video that helps explain this concept further:

One of my favorite childhood memories is growing tomatoes in the backyard and plucking them off, one by one, for my mother to prepare that night's dinner. I get the same feeling when I purchase produce at a farmer's market. Someone took great care to plant and foster these vegetables in order to provide a meal for someone else. And for some reason, it tastes better this way.

As a consumer, you can't help but feel better about what you eat knowing that what's on your plate came from a hardworking grower close to home. When you buy local, you support farmers, ranchers, and many other vendors who work hard each day to fulfill their own version of the American Dream.
