The guidelines will be put in place starting Friday, April 24, through July 23.

On Thursday, Denver Parks and Recreation announced a new set of guidelines for the city's parks and public spaces in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. And though many of the parks remain open, these new regulations will be in place from April 24 to July 23.

The possession and consumption of beer, wine, and champagne in parks and other outdoor spaces is prohibited.

"Other restrictions, including the prohibition of the possession and consumption of spirituous liquor or hard liquor, remain in place under the city’s rules for alcohol in parks and other public spaces," stated Denver Parks and Recreation in a release.

These regulations come a few weeks after a father in Brighton was arrested for violating social distancing guidelines while playing tee-ball with his wife and daughter.

What's Prohibited at Denver Parks and Public Spaces?

The following is taken directly from the Denver Parks and Recreation website:

  • Alcohol (including beer, wine, and champagne) is not allowed
  • If you are sick, do not visit the parks
  • Separate at least 6 feet from others at all times
  • Do not gather or travel in groups
  • Group sports and activities are prohibited
  • Shared use of equipment is not allowed (i.e.: frisbees, footballs, etc.)
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer/washing supplies
  • Leash your dog to prevent accidental cross-contamination with others
  • Park hours are 5 a.m.–11 p.m.

"Denver will continue to monitor and enforce physical distancing in parks," said the Parks and Recreation Department.

Denver Parks and Recreation suggests that if you must visit a public space or park, to visit one nearest to you. A full map of the City of Denver's parks can be found here.
