Celebrate safely, ring in the New Year, and save some money.

New Year's Eve is just around the corner. This year is going to look quite a bit different than past years. Most of the usual events have taken a back seat to COVID-19 restrictions, as bars and restaurants remain a majority closed. However, there are still events in downtown Denver, like the Parade of Lights floats, the Mile High Tree, and more that might bring you down to the metro. If you choose to imbibe and enjoy some of the outdoor events, or choose to party at home or with your immediate circle of people and need to go anywhere, the last thing you need to cap off the horror of 2020 is a DUI (or worse). You definitely want to wake up in your bed in your own pajamas on the first day of 2021, rather than in a hospital or in a less-than-stylish orange uniform in jail.

Luckily, you've got a couple of options for free or discounted sober rides on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Ride Safe with Sawaya Law Firm

For 15 years, the Sawaya Law Firm has done its part to help Denver and Colorado Springs residents celebrate responsibly. Anyone 21 and older can enjoy the Free Cab Ride program, a one-way ride home from December 31 through January 1, up to a maximum of $35. Cabs, Ubers, and Lyft rides are all eligible. Sawaya also offers this program for several of the major holidays throughout the year

Taking advantage of this generous offer is simple: After you pay the cab driver or ride-sharing service for your ride home, get a receipt for the trip and send the receipt and a copy of valid ID to The Sawaya Law Firm.

Uber, Lyft, and Other Ride Shares

Check your rideshare apps for possible promos on New Year's Eve rides. Lyft and Uber apps have posted discount codes in past years. Of course, if you happen to have that one rare unicorn in your group who hasn't signed up for the service as of yet, New Year's Eve is a great time for it so they can take advantage of the first-time rider coupons. Just be prepared for surge pricing, but any money saved is a good thing.
