The suspect is dead following a mass shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center.

Eleven people were killed in a mass shooting on Friday, May 31, at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, the Virginian-Pilot reports. Six people are hospitalized; one of the injured is a police officer.
"This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach," Mayor Bobby Dwyer said. "The people involved are our friends, coworkers, neighbors, and colleagues."

According to Dale Gauding, a Sentara spokesperson, five patients were taken to Virginia Beach General, and one person was taken to the Level I Trauma Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital via helicopter.
The shooter was in the Operations building, which is next door to City Hall, Master Police Officer Allen Perry confirmed.

According to the Virginian-Pilot, the lone shooter was found and killed by police. The shooter is confirmed to have been a current employee at the Municipal Center.
