LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Max Buettenback hit his second home run of the season and pitcher Luke Broderick ended a 9th-inning threat to lift Nebraska over Wichita State on Wednesday. Buettenback, a Lincoln Southeast graduate, entered the game as a pinch hitter in the fifth inning and maximized his opportunity. His solo shot proved to be the difference in the 5-4 victory. The Huskers started the game strong with a 4-run first inning. Cayden Brumbaugh, Gabe Swansen, and Rhett Stokes all delivered run-scoring hits for the Huskers. Wichita State had the tying run on base in both the 8th and 9th innings. Drew Christo ended the 8th with a strikeout, while Broderick closed the game by fanning WSU’s Cole Dillon. Nebraska raises its record to 7-8 following a sweep of the Shockers. The Huskers now head to Los Angeles for its Big Ten road opening series at UCLA.
