Vancouver now has another affordable housing building where older adults can age comfortably in place. Community leaders and members gathered Friday for the grand opening of Vancouver Housing Authority’s newest building, Laurel Manor. The 82-unit affordable housing complex at 3333 N.E. 66th Ave. has been open since January. The $34 million multi-agency project to house low-income residents 62 and older was funded through federal, state and local grants, as well as loans. Columbia Nonprofit Housing, founded by VHA in 1981, is Laurel Manor’s project sponsor. “We have seen a significant increase in the need for low-income senior housing in Clark County, and we are just so happy to be able to do this,” said Susan DeRenzo, chair of Columbia Nonprofit Housing.
