On Monday, the Detroit Pistons showed they can win on the road in blowout fashion.

On Wednesday, they showed they can win on the road on a buzzer-beater.

Cade Cunningham rattled in a 3-pointer as time expired to send the Pistons to a 116-113 road win at the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

As the Pistons inbounded the ball with five seconds remaining in a tie game, Cunningham fought off a defender, took the inbounds pass and pulled up from near the top of the key for the game-winning shot.

The shot capped off a triple-double for the Pistons’ All-Star: he recorded 25 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Cunningham is third in the NBA with nine triple-doubles this season.

The shot also capped off a strong Pistons comeback effort to win in one of Detroit’s few nationally televised games this season.

The Pistons trailed by eight points when former Michigan star Duncan Robinson hit a shot with 9:12 left in the fourth quarter.

From there, four players scored for the Pistons in less than three minutes bring the Pistons back within one. They retook the lead with 2:24 left on a Jalen Duren putback dunk, then Cunningham hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 55 seconds left to put the Pistons ahead by two.

Miami’s Tyler Herro was fouled on a shot attempt and made two free throws to tie the game with five seconds left, setting up Cunningham’s game-winner.

At 39-31, the Pistons are percentage points behind the Bucks for fifth place in the Eastern Conference; they wrapped up a postseason berth this week.

Cunningham’s triple-double led six Pistons players in double figures. Malik Beasley went 5-for-10 from 3-point range for 16 points.

The win was Detroit’s second in a row on the road after losing back-to-back games at home; Pistons on Monday beat the Pelicans by 46, marking the second-largest road win in franchise history.

Detroit wraps up its three-game road trip with a Friday game at Dallas.
