Officers with the Kansas City Police Department are investigating after a deadly wrong-way crash between a Honda Accord and a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy patrol vehicle.

KCPD was called to Sni A Bar Road and Blue Ridge Cutoff just before midnight Friday night.

Police say the person driving the Accord was speeding and going the wrong way on Blue Ridge Cutoff. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy was driving a patrol vehicle on the road, going the correct way.

The Honda hit the patrol vehicle head-on.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Honda driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deputy is currently in stable condition, and the investigation is ongoing.
