(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) April 6, 2025 will mark another day in history for the St. Joseph Civic Arena, as long time manager, Kathy Brock, is set to retire after 45 years.

Before the Civic Arena was even a thought Brock has also held the title of secretary of the Missouri Theater before taking over as manager there as well.

With Brock having many years under her belt as both the Civic Arena and Missouri Theater she hopes that residents have enjoyed all the excitement, entertainment and fun that has come to St. Joseph.

Brock said, "No two days were exactly alike. You came in and you met the day face on, and you hit those challenges, or whatever would come your way, and every day was a totally different day."

"The Civic Arena and the Missouri theater both have an everlasting effect on the community, just not only the events, but the relationships that it's built with everyone," Brock concluded.

As Brock has made numerous relationships over the years, those that have work closely with her said she was a great co-worker but an even greater friend.

Director of the St. Joseph Sports Commission, Brett Esely said, "I've worked six NCAA national championships with her, among other events. From day one I met Kathy to literally still working with her in her final days. Kathy is an above and beyond person."

Civic Facilities Director Mary Robertson, had well wishes for Brock as well, as Robertson will soon be taking over Brock's position at the Civic Arena.

Robertson said, "The knowledge, the experience, the customer service that Kathy has provided, the care and attention that she's given, not only to the Civic Arena, but to the Missouri Theater and the community will really go very noticed in her absence."

With her final days at the Civic Arena coming to an end, Brock wanted to thank all the businesses, staff, partners, and residents who continue to keep the Civic Arena up and running.

Brock said, "Thank you to everyone, the teams that we've worked with here with the staff, the staff has been phenomenal over the years, and the community has supported us tremendously. I just hope that that continues and from me, I want to say thank you."
