PHOENIX (AZFamily) —A storm system that brought wind and a few showers to Arizona on Tuesday is moving east into the Central Plains today. Up next for the Desert Southwest is a big warm-up.

Look for much lighter winds today across the region in the wake of yesterday’s departing storm. Skies will stay clear, and temperatures will remain cool, taking some time to rebound after the cold front. In the Valley, morning temperatures in the 40s will climb to about 74 degrees for a high this afternoon.

Temperatures will slowly climb across Arizona in the next couple of days. No more rain or snow is expected across the state for at least the next week. The Valley will climb to the low 80s on Thursday and to the mid-to-upper 80s on Friday and Saturday with abundant sunshine.

While a ridge of high pressure brings stable conditions and climbing temperatures, an even stronger ridge will begin to build off the West Coast this weekend, sliding over Arizona next week. This will bring unseasonably warm, potentially record-breaking temperatures to the Valley with highs in the low 90s by Sunday, mid 90s Monday and upper 90s Tuesday. Temperatures in the high country will also be about 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year by next week.
