KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man charged in a shooting outside North Kansas City High School pleads guilty. According to court documents prosecutors plan to ask a judge to sentence Smallwood to 19 years in prison. Prosecutors charged Smallwood and his younger brother, Lavon’Dre , for their alleged involvement in the March 2024, shooting outside North Kansas City High School. A third man, 21-year-old Nathaniel Greer also faced charges in the case. The shooting happened during a playoff basketball game between North Kansas City and Staley high schools. An adult and a teenager who attended North Kansas City High School were injured in the shooting, according to police. Smallwood is scheduled to be sentenced in May. Lavon’Dre Smallwood’s trial for his role in the shooting is scheduled to begin in December. A trial for Nathaniel Greer is scheduled to begin in November.
