TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The big concern this week will be the snow storm Tuesday night into Wednesday. Cold temperatures move in as well with most if not all of northeast KS below freezing tonight lasting through early next week. The only exception may be Friday where some areas may get above freezing. A busy week ahead with winter returning in full force with temperatures after today unlikely to get back above freezing for the week, although monitoring Friday. We’ll have 3 storm systems we’re monitoring for the next 8 days with the one Tuesday night into Wednesday being the main concern. A lot of the snow will move in after midnight Tuesday night so don’t be fooled if you don’t see any snow when you go to bed Tuesday but when you wake up Wednesday morning it’ll likely be snowing and will likely continue all day. Today: Cloudy. Highs in the mid-upper 30s. Winds E 5-10 mph. Tonight: Can’t rule out flurries or light snow, most spots dry. Lows in the upper teens to mid 20s. Winds NE 5-15, gusts up to 25 mph. Tomorrow: Cloudy. A few early morning flurries are possible. Highs in the low 20s near the Nebraska border with upper 20s to around 30° along and south of the turnpike. Winds NE 10-20, gusts around 25 mph. Snow likely on Wednesday with wind gusts around 25 mph leading to reduced visibilities and hazards travel. Most of the snow will be out of the area between 5-8pm. This means Wednesday night will be dry and with winds getting back to 5-10 mph that should help road crews clear a lot of the snow overnight especially on the main roads. It will be a cold end to the week with lows in the single digits and highs in the 20s Thursday but could reach the freezing mark Friday. This will be from a brief warm-up before the next cold front pushes through Saturday leading to minimal warming through the day. It may also bring a chance of precipitation as well.
