TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A cool and dreary weather pattern will be in place through Saturday with highs mainly in the 50s under cloudy skies and rain at times. The best chance for scattered to at times widespread rain will be during the day Friday. All other times any rain will be hit and miss with most spots dry. The highest chance of rain in the 8 day will be tomorrow with many spots ending up in the range of 0.20″-0.40″. The next highest chance may be Wednesday night but still some uncertainty. The other opportunities are today/tonight and the timeframe of Friday night through Saturday night. Those chances will be more hit and miss with most spots dry so have opted to take the chances out of the 8 day but continue to mention it. Overall quite a bit of cloud cover is expected today through Saturday but have the sunglasses nearby as there remains a low probability of some clearing for peeks of sun at times. Today: Cloudy. Can’t rule out an isolated shower mainly late this afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s to low 60s. Winds NE/E 5-10 mph. Tonight: Cloudy. Isolated rain shower early with a better chance of light rain coming up from the south between 5-7am. Lows in the low-mid 40s. Winds E around 5 mph. Tomorrow: Scattered rain showers throughout the day. Highs in the 50s (most in the mid-upper 50s but some areas may be more in the low 50s with rain keeping temperatures cooler). Winds E/NE 5-15 mph. The weekend will be cool and dreary Saturday even though most of the rain may be confined to areas near and south of I-35. Highs will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s with a northerly wind gusting around 35 mph. This is from a cold front pushing through during the day. The sun returns on Sunday with highs in the mid-upper 50s which begins the warming trend through next week however it is worth mentioning there are some minor differences in the models on just how warm it will get so don’t be surprised by some minor changes to the 8 day. The next storm spotter training class is tonight in Clay Center at 6:30pm at the Clay County Fairgrounds Event Center, 205 South 12th Street. Click here for the full schedule.
