PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A windy, dry day is on tap for most of Arizona, with critical fire conditions in the state. A storm system sweeping by to the north of the state will usher in dry air today. There is a chance for mainly light showers through the morning hours in the northern third of the state, but the rest of the state will deal will dropping humidity levels and dangerous fire conditions. In the Valley, look for sunny and breezy conditions today with a forecast high of 95 degrees. Winds will pick up out of the southwest by the afternoon hours to between 10 and 20 mph, gusting to 30 mph. Breezy conditions continue into the evening hours. Stronger winds are expected in the high country. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the higher elevations east of the Valley, including the Superstitions, the Tonto Basin and the Globe area from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Gusts there could reach 40 mph, with relative humidity dropping to less than 10%. A Red Flag Warning is also in effect for the Little Colorado River Valley from noon to 8 p.m. today for gusts up to 45 mph. This includes the Holbrook and the Eagar/Springerville area. Strong winds are expected today out of the west and northwest near the Greer Fire , where gusts could reach 45 mph. Winds are expected to ease up, and temperatures will warm up for the rest of this week. In the Valley, look for a high just shy of 100 degrees on Tuesday, with temperatures peaking near 106 by Thursday.
