Get your cookies delivered for free with a $15 purchase through February 14.
Girl Scout cookie season is set to begin on Feb. 1. 2021. If you were worried about finding a place to buy them, don’t worry help is on the way. This year, the Girl Scouts of the USA has inked a deal with Grubhub to get cookies delivered right to your home. In most of the organization’s 100-year history selling cookies, girls have gone door-to-door in neighborhoods or held table sales outside local businesses. The organization launched a digital presence in 2014, but it wasn’t until the pandemic hit last year that it became more important to offer more online options.
In areas where Grubhub operates, Girl Scouts will be able to use the companies technology to fulfill orders and track inventory. The popular delivery company is waiving fees to the Girl Scouts, making it affordable for the troops using the service. Grubhub is also waiving delivery fees to customers that spend $15 or more on cookies through February 14, 2021.
"Like other people running small businesses, Girl Scouts are growing their cookie sale online to connect to consumers who may be harder to reach during the pandemic, all while staying resilient and learning skills such as money management, goal setting, and customer service," said Batty. "We are excited to open virtual cookie booths beginning February 1 to customers who don't know a Girl Scout so they can still support girls during this challenging time for all of us.”
