The cold dog completes the trifecta of hot dog-centric treats this summer.

There have been a couple of interesting product mashups from the picnic table this summer, and one more is on the way. Oscar Mayer has partnered with Popbar on a limited-edition hot dog-flavored popsicle. The “Cold Dog” was born after a social media campaign by Oscar Mayer early this summer asked fans if a hot dog popsicle was “stupid” or genius." And by the title of this article, we bet you can't guess what the people voted on ...

The cold dog looks like an actual hot dog, complete with a swirl of yellow mustard. It joins two other products released this summer including a ketchup-flavored popsicle by  Heinz and limited-edition mustard-flavored doughnuts by French's. It only took Oscar Mayer a couple of months to bring the cold dog to fruition after fans gave it the thumbs up.

"After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality," said Anne Field, Head of North American Brand Communications, Oscar Mayer. "For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat."

The Cold Dog popsicles are available now at select Popbar locations in Long Beach, New York City, Alpharetta-Atlanta, and New Orleans for just $2, while supplies last.

An iced-up version of the Weinermobile will also be making its way through New York City and the Jersey Shore through August 27. It has frosted windows, "stupid" or "genius" graphics, and a freezer full of cold dogs for fans. If you see the hot doggers out there, grab a popsicle and a hot dog whistle.
