Grab a free Caramel Brownie McFlurry at any participating restaurant on May 4!

McDonald's is going on a long-overdue apology tour in regards to one of their iconic creations: the McFlurry.

Have you ever noticed the spoon that comes with a McFlurry? You know what we're talking about. It's definitely a spoon in terms of its shape and function, but it also strangely resembles a straw. I know I've been tempted to drink it like a milkshake, only to realize you have to scoop it (usually mid-bite) like ice cream.

Much like the Jessica Simpson debacle about whether Chicken of the Sea is chicken or fish (we're showing our age here), its ambiguity has left us utterly confused. Well, McDonald's wants to apologize for all the years of confusion, and they're making it up to all of us with something pretty sweet.

The fast-food giant is giving away free McFlurries. Yes, you read that right. On May 4, they're "giving everyone who has ever thought the spoon was a straw ... so yeah, everyone ... a FREE Regular Size Caramel Brownie McFlurry." No purchase necessary. It sounds too good to be true but trust us. All you need to do is scan the offer code in the McDonald's app to claim your treat at no cost.

But going inside your neighborhood Golden Arches isn't the only way to get the deal. You can also score the frozen treat through Uber Eats. Between May 3 and May 9, enjoy a Caramel Brownie McFlurry on the house when you make a minimum purchase of at least $15. Not a bad time to try one of their new crispy chicken sandwiches while you're at it!

You can head over to your local McDonald's for the freebie on May 4. Don't have the app? You can download it here. First-time users receive a free Large French Fry after downloading the app. From there the perks keep coming!

Will you be grabbing a free McFlurry next week? Just make sure not to sip the spoon. Let us know in the comments.
