Would it be a Pride Shake without rainbow glitter?!
Happy Pride Month! While many celebrations have been altered somewhat to account for COVID-19, Shake Shack's spun up a dessert made for the parade float circuit. Starting on June 1, fast-food lovers can purchase the Pride Shake for a limited time at all U.S. stores. The shake consists of a colorful array of fruit flavors with a strawberry and blackberry custard, a mango and passionfruit blend, and topped with whipped cream and glitter sprinkles. The plastic cup features the chain's signature burger logo designed with the colorway of the revamped Pride Flag.
Besides offering a treat that tastes just as good as it looks (that shade of pink is chef's kiss), the chain's goals for inclusivity go even further. Five percent of proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project, a non-profit providing suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth and longtime partner of the fast-food chain. The organization recently conducted its annual survey on mental health among LGBTQ youth and found 42-percent of those sampled contemplated suicide within the last year.

“Shake Shack seeks to support and create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ employees and communities at a time when hatred against marginalized groups continues to escalate in this country,” Idris Stover, Shake Shack's Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion said in a press release. “We’re honored to partner with The Trevor Project once again. And we are continuing to play our role as a business by taking action and continue being a champion during Pride Month and beyond.”
Among the burger chain's efforts in promoting gender inclusivity are business-wide initiatives for employees, re-labeling single-stall restrooms, and classification under Google's business listings as LGBTQ-friendly establishments. For their 2021 campaign aptly called "Unshakeable," they collaborated with a diverse team of creatives to bring the concept to life.
