You Gotta Try These Denver Staples!

Denver has a pretty cool food scene. One of my favorite things about traveling to different places or exploring the place I live is trying new food. There are some really great food items I've tried in my time here so far, and some that I still have on my bucket list. Let's take a look at some of the must-try Denver foods, and where you can find them!

#1 Wings - Piper Inn

This iconic Denver restaurant/biker bar is known for its wings, for which it has received a bunch of recognition. You can find traditional buffalo wings here, as well as garlic dry-rub wings, seasonal wings, and of course, their signature Chinese-style wings. These Chinese-style wings are served with their house blend of spices, oyster sauce, and of course, love! Unfortunately, I have yet to visit myself, but it has been a spot that I've been really looking forward to trying. I can't wait to go and try these famous wings.

#2 Eggplant Fries - Blue Pan Pizza

Known for their Detroit-style pizza, Blue Pan actually uses blue steel pans that are imported from Detroit to cook their pizza! While the pizza is certainly delightful, I'd like to highlight a different menu item here: Eggplant Fries. I tried these based on a friend's recommendation, and they absolutely did not disappoint. These fried eggplant sticks are topped with freshly grated romano cheese and served with garlic aioli and marinara sauce. I'm what you call a "garlic girl," so this aoili was right up my alley, and paired perfectly with this yummy fried app! Who doesn't love fried food? If you find yourself at Blue Pan, these are a must-try!

#3 Elk Jalapeño Cheddar Dog - Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs

This spot has been seen all over the media, including "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations." They have a variety of unique options, proving to be much more than your standard hot dog spot. They are particularly known for their Elk Jalepeño Cheddar Dogs. Being in Colorado, there are always fun and unique ways people incorporate different types of meat into classic dishes. If you're looking for a stand-out hot dog, you gotta check this one out.

#4 Steubie Snacks - Stueben's

Get ready for this description, because it's very odd, to say the least. These are pork shoulder bites, which are deep fried, and dunked in powdered sugar. They also come served with a spicy sauce, according to the internet. The menu does not describe what these are. It simply lists their name. The fact that these snacks sound super weird and seem a bit polarizing makes me even more inclined to try them for myself! Crazy combinations oftentimes turn out really well! While we didn't order them that night, as we weren't really in the mood, I know I am for sure trying these next time.

There are plenty of awesome food items to try out there! Of this list, I've only tried one, but the other three are on my own personal bucket list! Going out to eat is one of my favorite hobbies, and I look forward to constantly trying new things. What is your favorite treat in Denver? Let us know in the comments!
