It's not a trip to Ocean City if you don't eat ice cream on the boardwalk.

A visit to the beach isn’t complete without enjoying Ocean City’s famous sweets and treats. Boardwalk fries, blue crabs, and pit beef are lunch and dinner favorites, but in between meals, there are plenty of distractions. Here are five local places you can get something sweet in Ocean City this summer.

Dolle’s Candyland

Saltwater taffy is a candy you’ll find at beach towns up and down the eastern seaboard. Not actually made with saltwater, the taffy is chewy and soft from the process of “pulling” corn syrup, butter, and glycerin. Dolle’s salt water taffy comes in nine flavors, including peanut butter, cotton candy, and strawberry. Open since 1906, Dolle’s also sells popcorn, fudge, chocolate, and other candies at five locations around the city.

Dumser’s Dairyland

Dumser’s Dairyland is the quintessential ice cream stand and a must-do on any trip to Ocean City. Dumser’s has both soft serve and scooped ice cream that can be made into sundaes, milkshakes, floats, sodas, or served in a simple cone. Ice cream is the main attraction, but two of the chain’s seven locations have a full lunch and dinner menu. Nosh on diner specialties like cheeseburgers and BLTs, or try the savory Maryland fried chicken complete with sides like macaroni and cheese or mashed potatoes.

Fractured Prune

Donuts are typically for breakfast but this Ocean City shop makes treats you can enjoy all day long. Fractured Prune cake donuts are made-to-order, dipped in flavored icings, and coated in toppings like graham crackers, sprinkles, cookie crumbs, and even bacon. You can order ahead or brave the lines for hot, fresh donuts. Fractured Prune has several locations around Ocean City.

Fisher’s Popcorn

Fisher’s has been making caramel corn by hand on the boardwalk since 1937. Unlike most caramel corn, Fisher’s is air-popped without oil to produce a big fluffy kernel. The popped corn is covered with caramel that is made with butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup creating a tasty, crunchy treat. In addition to caramel corn, FIsher’s produces several other flavors, including butter, white cheddar, and Old Bay caramel. Keep your tub and you’ll save $1 on a refill.

DoDo Edible Cookie Dough and Ice Cream

One of the most popular ice cream flavors of the 2000s is cookie dough. DoDo sells both cookie dough and ice cream in a variety of flavors. Pair them together or eat your favorite cookie dough by itself. The doughs are made without raw eggs, making them completely safe to eat. DoDo has five locations throughout the city, including one on the boardwalk.
