On Sunday, September 16, hundreds of women clad in pink will be running through the mud at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex during the Muddy Princess run — an outdoor 5k obstacle course for women of all ages.

Unlike most 5ks, the Muddy Princess run is untimed, filled with obstacles, and covered in mud. Instead of pushing runners past their limits, this unique mud course encourages its participants to “focus on fun, team building, and women empowerment.”

The only requirement? You must be female.

“We want to bring you an experience where you feel like a princess even while crawling through the mud,” the Muddy Princess website reads. “This is a girl power, best friend bonding, ‘Wow, I never thought I’d be able to do that’ memory-making day out for ladies only.”

Muddy Princess Event Details

The event venue opens at 7 a.m. for registration with the first wave beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing every 20 minutes (Runners are asked to choose their start time when purchasing their ticket.) While participants can partner up or join a team, runners are more than welcome to sign up individually. But don’t forget to bring your tiara. According to Christiane Tillmann, the marketing and business development manager for Muddy Princess, dressing up is highly encouraged.

“I absolutely am in love with this event,” former Muddy Princess runner Sara Duarte-Schiel told Our Community Now in an email. “I volunteered at the Houston event and exchanged so many laughs with teams coming through. They treat their volunteers like friends. I would recommend this event to anyone who is looking for a great time with ladies, or even by themselves.”

Those who are interested can purchase an Early Bird ticket for $39. On July 22, ticket prices will increase by $20. The good news? Participants can bring an entire cheering squad at no additional cost. Purchase your ticket here.
