From Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios, the scripted series is based on the Texas Monthly article by Leif Reigstad, "Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild," according to Variety.
The series "centers around Joe Schreibvogel, a.k.a Joe Exotic, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park even at the risk of losing his sanity. The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation," says Variety.
This marks as the second announced series based on the exotic zookeeper and the world of Tiger King. Another scripted series was announced late last year that's said to be based on the Wondery podcast, "Joe Exotic," with SNL's Kate McKinnon set to star as Carole Baskin.
The Tiger King docuseries has been on people's minds since it first dropped on Netflix on March 20. It's been estimated to have reached an audience of 34.3 million (unique) visitors in its first 10 days of release, according to Nielsen data. And don't forget about allll the memes that came from the hit Netflix series!
