In the spirit of holiday giving, we encourage you to donate a new, unwrapped toy in support of Toys for Tots.

There are approximately 15 million children living in poverty in the United States, through no fault of their own. While many social programs are available to help their families get by, the little things, like Christmas gifts, are hard to come by. We at OCN have a soft spot for good causes, and Toys for Tots is one of them.

Douglas County Living is aiming to achieve its goal of 60,000 toys this year, and we know you can help make it happen.

DCF Guns in Castle Rock is passionate about supporting underprivileged children. This Christmas marks the seventh year in a row they have rallied to give toys to children that need a special kind of holiday cheer. On top of supporting disadvantaged children during the holidays, DCF Guns works hard all year round to educate families, houses of worship, and communities on the importance of firearm safety. After all, many of the staff members at DCF Guns are parents themselves.

If you're feeling especially generous this holiday season, please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to DCF Guns at 1155 Park St. in Castle Rock. When you give a Christmas gift to a child in need, you're not just giving a toy, you're giving them dignity in a season where the sting of poverty is felt the most. As an added bonus, you get a free-range pass when you drop off a toy.*

Another way to get involved is to attend the Douglas County Living Toys for Tots Banquet on December 6 at Cielo in Castle Pines. Call (303)-688-9412 for more information and to purchase tickets.

*Limit one range pass per customer.
