Fall is in the air and people are taking notice. We are only halfway through September and the events are turning from summer fun to autumn activities. This weekend in Denver, fill your schedule with pumpkin chunkin', Oktoberfest-themed events, corn mazes, and more. Whether you're taking it slow or living it up, here is a list of fun things you can do in Denver this weekend.
Friday, September 20
MCA Denver Fall Opening
When: September 20, 6–11 p.m.
Where: Museum of Contemporary Art Denver
Price: $8–$160
The MCA hosts the MCA Denver Fall Opening. The museum is looking to celebrate the change of seasons by showcasing three exhibitions—Francesca Woodman: Portrait of a Reputation, Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler: Flora, and Stacey Steers: Edge of Alchemy. There will be live music by Mandy Groves and Kayla Marque.
Jurassic Quest
When: September 20, 3 p.m.
Where: Colorado Convention Center

Fans of dinosaurs should not miss this one. Visitors will get to experience the largest showcase of dinosaurs in North America. The event features an interactive adventure in which there will be 80 life-sized dinosaurs. They are known to be incredibly realistic and some of them even have animatronic technology for a more immersive, if not scary, experience.
Midnight Madness: The Room

If you haven't seen The Room, are you even a fan of so-terrible-they're-good movies? The inspiration for the film The Disaster Artist will be playing at the Landmark's Esquire Theater at the stroke of midnight as part of their Midnight Madness movie night. There will also be an appearance at the end by Tommy Wiseau himself! So grab your buddies and your plastic spoons for quite an unforgettable movie night.
Denver Oktoberfest
When: September 20–22 and 27–29
Where: 2100 Larimer St., Denver
Price: $30–$240
The Denver Oktoberfest is coming back for the 50th year in a row. The beer fest attracts over 250,000 people every year for its variety of beers and activities. Visitors can expect to witness the World Championship Stein Hoisting Competition, a bratwurst eating contest, keg bowling, and more.
Saturday, September 21
Fall Pop-Up Vegan Market
When: September 21, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: LFX Filmworks
Price: Free
Nutrition Expert Sarah Eastin hosts the Fall Pop Up Vegan Market in Denver. The event features a variety of vegan pastries, drinks, and groceries alongside vendors of jewelry, home goods, and more. Whether you are getting into veganism or you're looking for the best vegan vendors in the city, this vegan market is a must.
Denver Botanic Gardens Corn Maze

Where: Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms

Get lost and find your way through the seven-acre corn maze of the Denver Botanic Gardens. The maze can be admired from two 15-foot tall bridges, for those who aren't brave enough to go in. Punkin' Chunkin'
When: September 21–22
Where: Arapahoe Park & Mile High Racing

Nothing says fall like pumpkins and nothing says autumn fun like chunkin' a pumpkin. The annual autumn festival includes a wide pumpkin patch, a chainsaw carving competition, a beer garden, a corvette car show, and more.
Doors Open Denver
When: September 21-22
Where: Various locations
Price: Free
Fans of architecture can't miss Doors Open Denver. The event celebrates the architecture of the city of Denver by providing tours of various buildings and venues. The two-day event is organized by the Denver Architecture Foundation and it showcases over 70 sites around Denver.
Sunday, September 22
14th Annual Long Dog Derby

Where: 2100 Larimer St., Denver
Price: $25
The 14th Annual Long Dog Derby is back as part of Denver Oktoberfest. Go for the beers and stay for the cutest race ever invented. Register your long dog, or daschund if we are being proper, to compete in the long dog derby. The event will have six categories for the race—including Little Links, Bier Brats, and Senior Schnitzels, among others—and we have now exploded due to the overabundance of cuteness.
Shakesbeer Presents: A Midsummer Nights Dram
When: September 22, 3-5 p.m.
Where: Fiction Beer Company, 7101 E. Colfax Ave., Denver
Price: Free
If you like beer and Shakespeare, need we say more? The Wit's Shakesbeer and Fiction Beer Company present Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dram, an original hour-long adaptation of the Shakespearean comedy. The actors drink before, during, and after the show for a unique dosage of extra hilarity.
Barre and Brunch
When: September 22, 7:45 a.m.
Where: Concourse Restaurant Moderne
Price: $5
The Bar Method and Concourse Restaurant are hosting a morning of exercise but, most importantly, brunch. The event includes a 45-minute barre class. Later, participants can move on to brunch. The ticket includes the class and a glass of mimosa.
