We've compiled a list of the best events happening this weekend in Hampton Roads, Richmond, and Williamsburg.  

The Fall season is in full swing meaning the time for festivals, pumpkin picking, and Haunted Houses are now. Here are nine events going on in Hampton Roads this weekend, October 4–6. 

Hampton Roads

Chelsea West Fest | 1200 Boissevain Ave., Norfolk | Saturday

Every year, locals gather to celebrate the Chelsea West neighborhood of Norfolk with delicious food, live performances, and brews. Local crafters will bring along their own brews and wines, local artists will put on performances, and when you are hungry, you can head to one of the restaurants closeby. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Hope House Foundation to help grow the Chelsea West neighborhood. Oktoberfest | Bier Garden, Portsmouth | Saturday

Soak up the German festivities with a classic Oktoberfest event held by a Portsmouth staple restaurant. There will be live music, authentic European food, dancing, a strongman contest, cornhole, and games for the kids. Tickets are $5-$10 each. Learn more here!

2nd Annual Atlantic Shores Classic Car Cruise-In | Atlantic Shores Retirement Community, Virginia Beach | Saturday

Take a step back in time to the Atlantic Shores Retirement Community with a classic car from the early 1900s. Atlantic Shores Retirement Community will be hosting live music for you to swing to, delicious dinner to grub on, and a chance to vote on your favorite classic car. 28th Annual Virginia Children's Festival | Town Pointe Park, Norfolk | Saturday

Dedicate a day to your children by taking them to an epic children's event in Town Pointe Park that is guaranteed to have a fun-filled day for the whole family. The festival is filled with over 100 entertaining and interactive activities such as arts and crafts, hands-on workshops and educational activities, storytelling, shows, and much more. There will be plenty of food and drinks for purchase. Tickets are $5 per kid. Read more here!

Richmond

Bionic Me | Science Museum of Virginia | Ongoing

Witness the true art form that goes into creating prosthetic limbs. The Science Museum of Virginia is showcasing the medical breakthroughs it took to accomplish these pieces. This exhibit will showcase bionic arms, legs, and other limbs in action running the tracks and the functionality impacts they have made on people's lives. There will also be plenty of interactive displays including prosthetics, 3D-printed bones, spray-on skin, and bionic eyes so you can get up close and personal with these scientific breakthroughs. The Richmond Oktoberfest | Richmond Raceway Complex | Ongoing

Head on down to the Richmond Raceway Complex for the only authentic German Oktoberfest in Central Virginia. They will have featured German performers such as Die Lustigen Almdudler and Hirschjäger Bavarian Dancers. They will be serving authentic German food such as bratwursts, knackwursts, roasted pork, and more. Of course, they will have a selection of authentic German beers and wines to drink, too! 2nd Street Festival | Historic Jackson Ward Neighborhood | Saturday–Sunday

Celebrate the culture and life of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood with the 2nd Street Festival. Here, you can indulge in several events including live entertainment, a Kidz Zone, popular food vendors, a marketplace and Artists Row to shop, and the Richmond Metropolitan Antique Car Club. Williamsburg

Oktoberfest | Billsburg Brewery | Saturday

Every brewery in the 757 area will gather to share their heist or German lagers allowing you to experience what every city has to offer. Your ticket price will include a sampling from each of the brewery's stands so you can taste-test to your heart's desire. There will, of course, be live entertainment and delicious festive food for you to indulge in. Tickets are $25 each. Read more here!

Williamsburg Book Festival | The Stryker Center | Saturday

Whether you are attending to discover your new favorite or find an excuse to be around books all day, the Williamsburg Book Festival is a great way to spend your Saturday afternoon. There will be panel readings, lectures, and poetry readings throughout the day. The festival is free and open to the public. Check it out here!
