Forget New York: This time, Sesame Street will be in Washington, D.C.!

Calling all kids and kids-at-heart!

Sesame Street is going on a road trip this summer with all the friends you know and love: Bert, Ernie, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird (of course), and the rest of the Muppets! They'll be stopping in several major U.S. cities, arriving in D.C. on Thursday, June 6, and staying through Saturday, June 8. The crew of Muppets will be filming at various locations around the District for an episode in their 50th season.

"It started 50 years ago — a colorful community of monsters, birds, grouches, and humans. A place where everyone counts," Sesame Street's website says. "For our anniversary, we are bringing people together from streets far and wide to celebrate 50 years and counting."

It doesn't get much warmer and fuzzier than that. Except for maybe Mr. Snuffleupagus. He's pretty fuzzy.

Can you believe that? Sesame Street has been delighting kids and making grown-ups nostalgic for 50 years. (Just in case you hadn't thought about getting old yet today.)

Hopefully, Sesame Workshop will announce where they'll be filming specifically so we can all get a chance to photobomb Big Bird. Also, has it been anyone else's lifelong dream to sing "That's Elmo's World" with Elmo? But even if the company behind the kids' show keeps the deets under wraps, you can still try to meet the Muppet crew during the free festival at Anacostia National Park on June 8. The festival will host a cookies-and-milk table (Cheers, Cookie Monster!), a maze, and a show. The official site for the festival shows that you can register, but admission is really on a first-come, first-served basis. So camp out in line nice and early because this event is going to be big!

The anniversary tour kicks off in New York on June 1 and wraps in Los Angeles on August 3. Season 50 will contain footage from each of the cities on the tour, promising to be Sesame Street's most vibrant and diverse season yet.

The 50th season of Sesame Street premieres this November, and I gotta say, those puppets are lookin' good! Congrats, Sesame Street!
