This is the day we can all say, "Skadoosh" just like Po, from "Kung Fu Panda."

Giant Pandas have been one of the most beloved animals for generations. The stark difference between the black and white fur, combined with an adorable face, invites everyone to gaze and appreciate the bear. Although, these beloved bears aren't widely seen in the wild due to their dwindling numbers as well as their tendency to isolate themselves.

According to the National Day Calendar, March 16 is National Panda Day. These beloved bears tend to isolate themselves in nature. The panda bear became endangered in 1990, and conservation efforts since then have paid off. "The cuddly mammal was officially moved from the IUCN’s Red List of 'endangered species' to 'vulnerable species' thanks to tireless efforts of conservationists campaigning and working on their behalf."

"Native to China, giant pandas are members of the Bear (Ursidae) family. Their rapidly shrinking habitat is a major cause for concern.  As an endangered species, successful panda breeding programs are rare. In the wild, there are approximately only 1,864 (according to the World Wide Fund for Nature) and 100 living in zoos around the world."

The release of Kung Fu Panda (2008) further developed the world's love for panda bears. The main character, Po, invites all of us on his journey to becoming the Dragon Warrior. Sequels to the movie continued his story, along with battles to save local communities with his Kung Fu-loving friends.

Fun Ways to Celebrate National Panda Day
