A structure fire that occurred last week in Greeley Hill resulted in the resident of the home and her adult dog passing away.

According to Steve Ward, division chief of operations for Mariposa County Fire and CAL FIRE, the fire was fully involved.

“Fully involved” means the fire has spread and engulfed a structure.

According to CAL FIRE public information officer Jaime Williams, crews were dispatched to the scene at 2:22 p.m. The fire was controlled at 3:20 p.m.

Williams said one battalion chief, a Mariposa County volunteer, three reserve firefighters and two prevention officers responded to support the incident.

A Tuolumne County engine was used as part of an auto aid agreement and a Tuolumne County water tender was provided in mutual aid.

She also noted the use of four state engines and a water tender.

No other information was available.

The woman’s other nine dogs were taken in by a neighbor.

Friends of the Animal Community, a pet adoption service based in Sonora, has gotten involved in the effort to get the dogs into homes.

FOAC is taking donations for the dogs’ care and is also asking for help from the community to house the dogs.

According to a Facebook post, five of the nine dogs have been adopted and one mother, as well as three puppies, remain.

The puppies have their five-ways vaccines and have been dewormed.
