SHANA:
Let the music inspire you with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra. Today we are here with conductor and composer Fouad Fakhouri. Thanks so much for being with us. Thank you for having me. Yes. You traveled all the way in from New York City to be with us. Absolutely. Yeah. Well, we are really excited about Timeless Passage, the concert.

FOUAD:
It’s the last concert of the year, so you want to make sure you purchase tickets for this. Tell us about it. So, this is a great concert. It’s our last concert of the season and we’ve had a terrific season. And this one, it features a wonderful guest artist, Elizabeth Pitcairn. People might know her from the movie that featured the instrument that she plays. It’s called the Red Violin. She was 17, I believe, or 18, when her grandfather bought bid on that violin at Christie’s at the auction. And won that violin for her. It’s a Stradivarius Red Violin. It’s one of the most famous violins in the world.

SHANA:
Wow, that is amazing. They actually made a movie out of this.

FOUAD:
They did. Yeah. And she’s a terrific, terrific violinist. I’ve never worked with her before, so I’m really looking forward to working with her and to really hear, hear her perform the violin next to me. I’ve heard the violin. I’ve heard her many times and recordings and life, I’m sorry, recordings and online, but I’ve never really worked with her. But when you really go online and just listen to her playing the violin, it’s just brilliant, terrific sound.

SHANA:
It really is. I listen to it myself and I mean, her stage presence is amazing. It’s so it’s a great tool to watch her.

FOUAD:
I know, and it’s a great thing for our audiences here in Wichita Falls. I mean, I really, I’m looking forward to sort of having them experience her, her presence as well as the instrument.

SHANA:
Well, I’m purchasing tickets today because this is a big deal to have here in Wichita Falls. And just as a reminder, the new venue is going to be at First Baptist Church. While Memorial Auditorium is under construction. And tell us about when the show is.

FOUAD:
So, we begin the concert, at 7:30 this Saturday. There are two other pieces on the program. The first piece is by another, younger composer. American younger composer. She’s about 28 or 29. Her name is Gala Flagello. She’s from Michigan. And it’s an overture that opens the concert called Bravado. And then we finish the concert with Symphonic Dances by Rachmaninoff.

SHANA:
So, as you can see, you don’t want to miss this concert. Bring the family. You can purchase tickets in person. The box office opens at 6:00. Or purchase tickets online or over the phone.
