It looked like the TCU Horned Frogs were on their way to a Big 12 baseball title. With three outs to get in the ninth inning, that all changed with one swing of the bat.

Arizona’s Andrew Cain hit a leadoff home run to make the game 1-1 and send it into extra innings. The Wildcats tacked on one more run in the tenth inning and beat TCU to win their second consecutive conference title. Last year’s title was when the Wildcats were in the Pac-12.

TCU pitcher Gianluca Shinn was dominant for the Horned Frogs with seven strikeouts, including striking out the side in the fourth inning .

Arizona will receive the automatic berth into the NCAA baseball tournament, while TCU will look to hear their name called as an at-large bid when the field is announced on Monday.

This season is a bounce-back year for TCU, as last year the Horned Frogs missed out entirely on the NCAA tournament. In 2023, they made it all the way to the semifinals before losing to Florida.
