Honor community, support, and MLK's legacy with the Village Exchange Center.

"Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!"

-Excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s I've Been to the Mountaintop Speech

The Village Exchange Center has done so much for the refugees and immigrants in the Aurora/Denver Metro Area in its two years of operation. Each month 1,200 individuals are served by the Village Exchange Center and its partners with a variety of different programs that promote wellness, education, food pantries, citizenship classes, and English language instruction, as well as providing a safe space for all faiths to worship as they please.

Village Exchange Center Martin Luther King Celebration in Aurora, Colorado

It's only appropriate that the Village Exchange Center almost shares a birthday with a great man who would no doubt support the mission they've cultivated over the past two years. As such, the Village Exchange Center is not only celebrating their birthday, but Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s as well with a party and a fundraiser to keep their dream alive.

Fun, food, and entertainment are guaranteed while local artist Thomas "Detour" Evans will also be there to unveil his latest mural that he painted for the Center. If you've seen his work around the Denver area, you know that you'll be in for a colorful treat.

Whether you've been following the efforts of the Village Exchange Center for awhile or only heard about them just now, consider coming to their event on January 19 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at 1609 Havana St., Aurora, CO, 80010.
