WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The latest information from the City of Wichita Falls’ monitoring of the potential flooding situation shows the Wichita River is expected to crest sometime on Friday, May 2. It is not expected to reach flood stage.

The possibility of more storms overnight could impact the level the river reaches, in addition to localized street flooding due to already-saturated ground.

The city still has agencies staged and poised to deploy should flooding occur at a level that necessitates action. Plans include shelter, rescue and transportation. The city is not issuing any voluntary or mandatory evacuations. The city plans to release its next round of assessments on Friday morning.
