It's Soup Season!

Now that there's a chill in the air, it's the perfect time to warm up with a nice bowl of soup. There are so many awesome types of soup out there. The possibilities are truly endless. Whether you're recovering from a cold, ('tis the season!), or just looking to fill your soul with coziness, soup is there for you. Let's take a look at some different soups perfect for the winter, and where you can find them in Denver.

This Denver staple is known for its chicken wings and Cantonese cuisine, but did you know they are also currently selling cheeseburger soup? I love the idea of taking something like a cheeseburger and incorporating it into a soup. Food is so creative these days! Who could turn down this warm cheesy goodness? The Piper Inn plans to keep this soup around for most of the winter season, so go get yourself a bowl while it's there. This is one great way to warm up after coming back from the mountains.

2. Miso Soup - Motomaki

I love miso soup so much. It's such a simple and comforting dish and the perfect compliment to sushi! Head over to Motomaki, from the people who brought us Hapa Sushi, and get yourself a sushi burrito with a side of miso soup, served with tofu, scallions, and wakame. Whenever I'm feeling down, miso soup is there to pick me back up.

3. Green Chili - Otra Vez

It's not a proper Colorado soup list without green chili. Otra Vez is a great Mexican restaurant on 16th Street Mall. I was told by a friend that their green chili is fire. With hatch green chilies, pork, and cheddar cheese, it's not hard to see why it's so good. The soup is also served with a crispy corn tostada and a grilled flour tortilla. This is a quintessential Denver way to beat the cold.

4. Chicken Potpie - Zoup Eatery

This chain has soups galore to suit any soup lover. The chicken potpie soup features creamy chicken soup with veggies mixed in. Even better? It's garnished with a crumble pie crust. Talk about comfort food!

5. Crawfish Etouffee - Nola Jane

This may be considered more of a stew than a soup, but I'd say it's soup adjacent. I love some good cajun-creole food! It has wonderful flavors and spices that I often find myself craving. This dish is served over rice with a side of garlic bread because everybody loves garlic bread.

6. Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup - Stueben's

Grilled cheese and tomato soup are an amazing combo that make a nice hearty meal. The grilled cheese at Stueben's is served on Texas toast and includes Muenster and American cheese. It is also served with homemade chips. Upgrade your meal to include tomato soup for dipping, because honestly, it's a necessity.

So there you have it! These are some soups you gotta check out this season. What's your favorite soup?
